AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
Purpose: Students advocate for those denied
human rights and supports prisoners of conscience who do not advocate
violence. One primary way of doing this is through letter writing
Membership Requirements: Open to all students in all
grades.
Moderator: Mr. John Healy
Meetings: Monthly – announced over PA
C-C SINGERS
Purpose: To learn and perform higher quality
choral literature. Performances will be announced.
Membership Requirement: By Audition in
September
Moderator: Mr. Renoni
Meetings: Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30pm
CHARACTER EDUCATION STEERING COMMITTEE
Purpose: The objective of this committee is
to instill a greater sense of the importance of both Christian virtues
and civic values, to establish unity and respect throughout the
school, and to inspire and encourage all aspects of the school
community to educate for character formation.
Membership Requirements: The steering committee is
composed of members of the faculty and administration as well as
representatives from the junior and senior classes. There is a
committee selection process that takes place each spring for the next
academic year.

Michael Cote
Meetings: Wednesdays at 2:00pm
CHESS CLUB
Purpose: To provide a casual forum in which
students can play chess and other games.
Membership Requirements: Open to all students in all
grades.
Moderator: Ms. Mary Haynes
Meetings: Wednesday afternoons from 2:00
until 3:00.
CLUB GREEN
Purpose: To raise awareness to environmental and
recycling issues.
Membership: Open to all students in all age groups
Moderator: Mr. Schoorens
Meeting: Alternating Mondays at 2:00pm in Room 212

DANCE CLUB
Purpose: To provide students interested in
primarily jazz dance to polish their technique and perform in some of
the school sponsored events.
Membership Requirement: Previous dance
experience preferred/auditions in the fall.
Moderator: Ms. Angela Dolan
Meetings: Mainly Friday afternoons from 2:20
to 3:30. Extra rehearsals may be called before a performance.
FALL DRAMA CLUB
Purpose: To present a drama performance in
the Fall.
Membership Requirement: By Audition – listen
for announcements
Moderator: Mrs. Carol Mecca
Meetings: Specific dates and times TBA. In
general, afternoons during the Fall to prepare for the
performances on 11/15/07, 11/16/07, and 11/17/07.
FOOD PANTRY

Purpose: This school sponsored outreach
effort offers consistent support to families (approximately 300 per
month on a monthly basis) throughout the city while at the same time
making our school’s motto of “Enter to Learn-Leave to Serve” a
reality.
Membership Requirement: Open to all students
in all grades. Students may join at any point in the year.
Moderator: Mr. Michael Cote
Meetings: Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to
2:30, twice a month, and the last Saturday morning of every month from 8:00 to 11:00.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Purpose: A select ensemble to study and
perform jazz, rock and big band music.
Membership: By audition in the Fall.
Moderator: Mr. David Renoni
Meetings: Thursdays 2:15-4:00pm
LANGUAGE HONOR SOCIETIES
Purpose: The societies recognize students who
have excelled in the study of language. Spanish Honor Society
supports as its service project the diocesan mission in Honduras.
Membership Requirement: French, Portuguese,
and Spanish-The student must be in grade 10 or higher and must be
enrolled in the honors level of the respective language with an A-
average in the language. The average will be determined by the
previous year’s final grade and the first two terms of the current
year.
Latin-The student must have an A- to A
average in the language for the year.

Meetings: As needed – announcements are made
LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY
Purpose: Leadership is an organization
responsible for fostering the growth of school spirit as well as the
school mission.
Membership Requirement: Elected positions are by vote. Any student
wishing to run for an elected position must submit paperwork in the
Spring. Elections are in the spring for current students and in
October for Freshmen. The Leadership Assembly board is comprised
of elected leadership and class officers as well as homeroom
representatives. All students are welcome to help in the
execution of any activity.

MARCHING BAND
Purpose: Perform at in-school rallies and
home football games.
Membership Requirement: See Mr. Renoni if you
play and instrument.
Moderator: Mr. Renoni
Meetings/Rehearsals: are Monday afternoons in
the fall from 2:15 to 3:00. Perform at home football games – schedule
is announced by Mr. Renoni and posted in the athletics section of
school website.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Purpose: The National Honor Society of
secondary schools is a national organization whose purpose is to
create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render
service, to promote worthy leadership and to develop character in
students.
Membership Requirement: See Handbook for
procedure for election for membership.
After second term: Open to any student in the
10th, 11th, or 12th grade who has satisfied all of the requirements of
scholarship, leadership, service and character and must maintain a
cumulative scholastic average of 3.0 or better while enrolled in a
minimum of three courses with a quality point value of 3 or 4 per year
(sophomore, junior, senior) or the equivalent of six level 3 or 4 full
year courses by the end of the junior year or a total of nine by the
senior year.

Meetings: First Wednesday of each month during
homeroom. Additional meetings may be schedule before such events as
the Annual Toy Shop and NHS Induction Ceremony.
NEW ENGLAND MATH LEAGUE
Purpose: The NEML sponsors six contests each
year. The exam takes 30 minutes. A follow-up session will be offered
to review the exams.
Membership Requirements: Open to any student who enjoys
math and would like a challenge.

Meetings: 10/23/07, 11/20/07, 12/18/07, 1/15/08, 2/12/08, 3/18/08
PHYSICS OLYMPICS
Purpose: To prepare students for events that
will be part of the Eastern Massachusetts Physics Olympics.
Membership Requirements: Student must be taking a
physics course or have taken HIMPT. Students apply physics in
challenging and creative events.
Invitation is extended to students in the
class or contact Sr. Mary Catherine Burns.
Moderator: Sr. Mary Catherine Burns
Meetings:
As needed after school between January and April.
PRO-LIFE CLUB
Purpose: To spread awareness about the
sanctity of life and foster a culture of life within our school and
society; we attempt to carry this out by studying and discussing life
issues; catechizing friends; reaching out to those in need;
courageously speaking out when the sanctity of life is attacked; and
supporting those fighting for the cause of life.
Membership Requirement: Open to all students in all grades.
Moderator: Fr. Kevin Cook
Meetings: Mondays at 2:00pm
SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION
Purpose: To learn a Shakespearean monologue
and sonnet to perform for competition purposes.
Membership Requirements: Open to all students
in all grades.
Moderator: Mrs. Carol Mecca
Meetings: Specific dates and times TBA. In
general, afternoons during November to December to prepare for the
performance on 12/11/07 and possible further competition based on
adjudication.
SPRING MUSICAL
Purpose: To prepare and perform a piece of
musical theater.
Membership Requirements: Open to all students
in all grades. Principal roles are determined by audition.
Moderators: Mrs. Carol Mecca and Mr. David Renoni
Meetings: Specific dates and times TBA. In
general, rehearsals are afternoons beginning in January and continuing
through April with the performances from 4/10/08 to 4/13/08.
During the last week there will be evening rehearsals.
YEARBOOK
Purpose: To learn layout techniques,
photography, and how to use photo editing software to publish a bound book that archives four
years of precious memories.
Membership Requirements: Open to all students
in all grades.

Meetings: Varies as needed for deadlines.
