Standardized Testing!

  • Part of the College Application process is the "necessary evil" of standardized college admission testing.

  • Please remember that students are responsible for registering for the SAT/ACT tests.  It is NOT up to CCHS or the Guidance Department to do this for the students!

  • Basically two companies administer these types of tests.  One, the more familiar, is the SAT and the other is the ACT.

  • Many colleges except either test.  Historically students from CCHS do better on the ACT, but we do suggest that our students take BOTH exams prior to applying to college.

  • Below you'll find links to both the SAT & ACT companies.  We do suggest that you register online, but do it early!  Do NOT wait until the last minute.

  • There is also a chart of upcoming testing dates and registration deadlines.

  • Finally, check with the colleges that you are applying to for further information on tests that they require.  For example, do they require SAT II (Subject Tests) or will the ACT suffice?  Which SAT IIs do they require?

REMINDER:

Colleges are now requiring that your scores be sent directly from the company that you tested with.  There are two ways of doing that:

  • When registering for an exam you are given a number of free score reports that can be sent at that time.

  • After taking the exam and realizing that your scores have not been sent to the colleges of your choice, you can request they be sent through either the SAT or ACT.  There is a fee for this service.
