Enter to Learn ~ Leave to Serve

Thank you for visiting the Coyle and Cassidy website.  With a strong academic program,
competitive athletic teams, a dedication to the arts, a school-wide service learning program, and a commitment to providing our students with a holistic moral education rooted in the Gospel values, Coyle and Cassidy High School and Middle School has earned the reputation of being one of the finest Catholic, co-educational, grades 6-12 college preparatory schools in Southeastern Massachusetts.Renowned for our academic rigor and student preparedness, Coyle and Cassidy boasts a 100% college acceptance with many of our graduates attending some of the country’s most selective colleges and universities.  Our alumni have made and continue to make extensive contributions in the areas of science, medicine, law, education, the arts, and civic involvement. All who cross the threshold of our school tread upon a welcome mat emblazoned with the school’s motto “Enter to Learn ~ Leave to Serve.”  While it shows the wear and tear of time, replacing it would be akin to removing the cornerstone of our building.  Though its paint has faded, this mat serves as a daily reminder of our responsibility to serve the needs of others.  Through the years, thousands of our students have worked to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, provide toys to needy children at Christmas, bring friendship to those in nursing homes, and be role models to young children in local schools.  What better sign of our students’ commitment to others than a well-worn welcome mat embedded with the footprints of all of those who have entered to learn and have left to serve!

We hope that you will consider Coyle and Cassidy and become part of our family.

Best,

Mary Patricia Tranter, Ph.D.

President

Dr. Tranter, a 1980 graduate of Coyle and Cassidy High School, is the third generation of her family to attend Taunton Catholic Schools K-12.  After finishing high school, she went on to the College of the Holy Cross where she received a B.A. in Biology in 1984.  She then attended Harvard Medical School and earned a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences in 1991.  In August of 1991, there was an unexpected opening in the science department at Coyle and Cassidy.  To assist her alma mater, Dr. Tranter left her post-doctoral position at UMass Medical School to teach Biology, Chemistry and Anatomy & Physiology.  Little did she know that she would make a career of it.  She is now in her 25th year at Coyle and Cassidy and 9th year as president. Previously she served as a science teacher, science department chairperson, director of scheduling, director of guidance, academic principal, and principal.
