To All in our Coyle and Cassidy Family:

It does not seem possible that next week begins our final week prior to Christmas vacation.  Where has the year gone?  It certainly has proven true for me, the older I get, the faster time flies by!  With all of the things we have going on next week, this will be the last President’s Blog of 2018.

This past week was another busy week as our winter athletic teams continue to launch their seasons and our music and theatrical groups work on finalizing their Christmas programs.  The middle school Christmas play will be presented tonight at 7pm in our auditorium.  Our high school Christmas concert will be next Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00 pm.  Please try to include these wonderful events in your family’s Christmas celebrations as they are sure are to be wonderful expressions of our faith and our students’ hard work and talent.

This past Thursday and Friday we took one more critical step toward the implementation of our makerspace and the expansion of technology-based offerings as Mrs. Cherie Gilmore, Director of Technology, and Mrs. Kathy St. Laurent, Principal, met with all 8th grade students to discuss that we will be launching a pre-engineering elective next year for 9th grade students.  This is the first in a series of classes that will be part of a pre-engineering program at Coyle and Cassidy.  We could not be more excited to take this next step to offer this great opportunity to our students.  We are also going to begin working to include a technology elective for our 8th grade students next year as well.  Please stay tuned for more exciting information!

I also thank Bethany Slivka, Class of 2023 for creating such a beautiful piece of art that is the cover of our school’s Christmas card this year.  Also, thanks to Olivia Houghton, Class of 2021 who wrote the beautiful and faith-filled verse for the message of the card.  We have so many talented students at Coyle and Cassidy and it is just a gift to be able to showcase their work in this way.

This Saturday, December 15th, Coyle and Cassidy will host its annual Toy Shop.  This year we anticipate serving over 700 children.  This means our students will give away over 3,500 brand new Christmas gifts.  Watching this program be carried out by our students and school community has been such a wonderful experience.  May God continue to bless our ministerial efforts.

Congratulations to our reigning State Champions Girls’ Basketball team.  They have already started their season in great fashion and they were just ranked 9th in the Boston Globe’s basketball poll of all teams.  Great job, ladies!

Congratulations to our first middle school robotics team as they competed in their first robotics competition last Saturday. It was a First Lego League competition at UMass Dartmouth. Our students won the Best Mechanical Design Award and were invited to participate in a competition in March to showcase their robot.
